This is why gelato and sorbetto taste different in Italy

Gelato has become a word that many recipes and brands use to describe their version of ice cream, claiming that is what gelato is.

As an Italian who has been making gelato my entire life, this is how we make it in Italy.

If your recipe looks different, your gelato has been lost in translation.

Sorbetto is also an Italian word, and while many translate it as sorbet, the traditional Italian version includes alcohol and Italian meringue, and that give it its texture and lightness.

Here are three gelati and two sorbetti, made the Italian way.
